Extractions, Root Canals, Implants, and Crowns

Despite our best effort to keep a tooth, sometimes an extraction is the only treatment option.  A dental extraction is done to remove teeth that are not longer restorable. Root canal therapy is used to remove infected and dead tissue from the nerve of the tooth. During a root canal procedure the nerve of the tooth is removed.  The tooth is then cleaned and sealed with a rubber filling material.  The tooth is then prepared for a crown to prevent the tooth from breaking. Dental implants can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth or a full upper and/or lower set of teeth.   Dental implants are surgically placed titanium pins, which are secured in the jawbone.  Implants act as a replacement for the root or roots of a tooth.

1) The implant

A titanium screw that serves as a root for your new tooth. This is what permanently attaches to your jaw.

2) The abutment

A permanent connector that supports and holds a tooth.

3) The crown

The cap that replicates the missing tooth. logy as well as actuals images taken of our staff and friends.

Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are a tooth-shaped “cap” that is placed over a single tooth or multiple teeth, a schematic of this can be seen on the right.  Dental crown and bridges are designed to cover a weakened or damaged tooth,  and restore the tooth’s size, shape, strength, and appearance.  Crowns typically have a lifespan of 10-15 years before needing replaced.
